"Our fundamental aim is to create significant spaces by bringing contemporary art and architecture in resonance with the pristine nature of the Seto Inland Sea, a landscape with a rich cultural and historical fabric." Benesse

Located in the Setouchi (Seto) island sea, a short ferry ride from Okayama and Takamatsu, the island of Naoshima has transformed itself from a sleepy isle to the modern art lover's mecca. Over a period of thirty years the island has amassed a wealth of outdoor art, museums and architecture, all mixed in with the old industrial infrastructure and traditional villages. Many of the museums on the site were designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, namely the Chichu Art Museum (mostly built underground), Benesse House (Museum & Hotel), Lee Ufan Museum (a collaboration with artist Lee Ufan) and the Ando Museum see the complete site @ benesse art site
