BIO

The Ayekoo Drummers were founded in 2007 in Accra, Ghana. All members were trained at the Ghana National Theatre where they played with the theatre's well known youth orchestra, Indigenafrika. Over the years the drummers have developed their own distinct and unique sound mixing African rhythms with jazz elements.

 

The ensemble has toured in Africa and Europe where their vivacious performances have managed to capture and delight audiences in Benin, Marocco, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy and in Switzerland, where they were invited to performe at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival in both 2008 & 2009. xxx the same year brought the drummers to the Verona Jazz Festival Teatro Romana xxx

 

As the group continues to tour and perform, whether in concerts, classrooms or workshops, they look to send their audiences home after each performance with a new vitality and a touch of the Ghanaian passion & passion for life!
