Tesfaye Urgessa is an Ethiopian painter. Born and raised in Ethiopia he studied art and would later find his way to Stuttgart, Germany through a scholarship.
His work mostly consists of the portrayal of naked, sometimes defaced if not grotesque and mangled bacon-/schiele-esk subjects. Still, the images convey a sense of vulnerability and humanity, leaving the onlooker with a sense of intrusion, like an uninvited guest infringing upon an occupied space.
Tesfaye Urgessa lives and works in Nürtingen, Germany.
