Viviane Sassen PHOTOGRAPHY
In 2002 Viviane Sassen saw nostalgia draw her back to childhood playgrounds. She traveled to Kenya, were she had lived until the age of five and armed with her camera thought to capture this place of 'vivid colours and strong contrasts of light and dark' that she had left behind as a little girl.
Over the next eight years (2002 - 2010) Sassen visited not only Kenya, but also South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Ghana. She published various books featuring this work: Parasomnia 2011, Sketches 2010 and Flamboya in 2008.
