Artist Tahir Carl Karmali pays hommage to Kenyas ‘jua kali’ (Swahili for ‘fierce sun). The Swahili term was originally allocated to the city's travelling pedlars and artisans. Today the name refers to the workers in Kenya’s informal economy.
