Eric Gyamfi was born in Ghana, West Africa. With portraits being one of his favourite formats 'These Are The Present Future' is only one in a series of portrait shoots; Portraits I and Witches of Gambaga were also captured in this monochrome style and are equally as stunning. Over a period of eight years, from 2002 - 2010, Viviane Sassen visited Kenya (where she had lived as a child), South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Ghana, and ventured into a 'journey through the mysterious remnants of her memories' moma. In 2002 Viviane Sassen saw nostalgia draw her back to childhood playgrounds. She traveled to Kenya, were she had lived until the age of five and armed with her camera thought to capture this place of 'vivid colours and strong contrasts of light and dark' that she had left behind as a little girl. New Yorker photographer Phyllis Galembo has travelled the world documenting the costumes of indigenous people everywhere from the Caribbean to West Africa and Central America. Galembo has been featured in numerous exhibitions and shows all over the world and has also received countless awards for her work.
